The Hong Kong Club Foundation

The Hong Kong Club Foundation

The Hong Kong Club Foundation was founded in 2015 with the aim of helping provide money and member expertise for unmet needs in Hong Kong.

The Foundation supports a wide range of Hong Kong Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).

We focus on three areas: the elderly, disadvantaged youth, and less-privileged non-Chinese ethnic groups, mostly South Asians.

The Foundation has primarily funded smaller NGOs, often younger and more innovative ones. We look for energetic and mission-driven founders with strong visions.

Where possible, we pair volunteer Club members with our grantees in order to further develop our recipients’ organizational strengths.

We also work with other philanthropic organizations through our membership of The Hong Kong Foundations Exchange.

Directors conduct due diligence on each of our actual and potential beneficiaries each year through physical visits, generally in the autumn.

To date, we have conducted more than 100 visits. Members are also welcome on selected visits; these are advised by the Club through regular member communication.

We are funded through allocations from the Club, which may allocate up to ten percent of the Club’s annual surplus after tax to the Foundation, as well as contributions and bequests from Club members. The Foundation is a charitable institution and is exempt from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The Club is the Foundation’s sole shareholder.
